Hi! And welcome to my site!  I’m Beth - a New Jersey-based occupational therapist and yogi and I’m so glad you’ve taken a moment to check out this page.

Beth Golden Health Living is a place where
I am dedicated to encouraging, educating, and empowering those who are interested in a healthy lifestyle.

I’ve been a pediatric OT for over 20 years with my Master of Science Degree from Columbia University in New York.  As an OT working with children from birth to the age of 21, in their homes, in their schools, in sensory clinics, I am dedicated to treating the whole child and working with families to create the most holistic and rich environment in which children can thrive, learn, grow, and develop.

As a mom and a grandma of eight --and two more on the way as I write this -- (yes, still can’t believe that one – but time flies when you’re busy living life!) my personal and professional life has been full to overflowing with the joy that children bring to our world.

I like to think I’ve learned a thing or two along the way and this is the place for me to pass on what I’ve learned, and as I keep learning Every. Single. Day.

More recently I’ve come to discover the healing powers of yoga

Without going into too much detail of how I ended up with an L4-L5 disc herniation, I’ll tell you that I was on a mission to heal naturally.  I refused to entertain the idea of surgery. I tried chiropractic and acupuncture, and while they were both helpful in relieving my pain, what I realized I needed was a lifestyle change.

I decided I could no longer be pounding on my body by going out for a run and then neglecting to stretch afterwards.  I could no longer lift weights the way I used to without allowing for extended recovery periods.  I turned to yoga to heal my body physically, and what I found was that yoga brought to my life so much more than physical healing.

After a session on my mat
I felt a sense of calm, of peace, of letting go.

I felt a complete release of stress,
and that release stayed with me long after I left the mat.

I have always been a spiritual person, so it wasn’t that spirituality, religion, or God was lacking in my life.

It was, though, that through this physical practice,
I could find a relief of the build-up of daily stress.

My long-standing thyroid condition stabilized &
my disc herniation began to ease its way back into place and stay there.

I was fascinated by what I believed yoga could bring to the children with whom I worked, who were experiencing sensory overload, physical pain, and to my non-verbal patients with autism who couldn’t tell us what they were feeling.   I sought out professional development courses to learn how to merge yoga with my occupational therapy practice.   I began to follow the emerging research on the therapeutic value of yoga.

And finally, I took the plunge, and became a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT).  I cannot tell you how fulfilling I find it to bring yoga not only to children, but to teach adults who are trying to lead a healthy lifestyle and age gracefully.

This website was born as a place to share things I have learned and continue to learn along my journey as an occupational therapist, a yogi, and as a nurturer of people of all ages.

Although I am a registered occupational therapist, this space is not meant to replace skilled therapeutic intervention.  The ideas presented here are provided as information and not medical advice.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you will continue to join me on a journey to healthy living.

Love and Light on your Journey.
